In what is one of the bizarre job postings, Google is said to be looking for a search engine optimization (SEO) expert. Why you ask? Well it wants its Google sites to be Googled better.
The job posting was first spotted on Google Careers portal by the folks at Search Engine Land. The listing mentions that Google is looking for a “Program Manager, Search Engine Optimization.” The job description says,
As a Program Manager for Technical SEO, you will work with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Engineering and more to help drive organic traffic and business growth. You will take part in website development and optimization, help shape blog and social strategy, improve website code hygiene and define web architecture for international websites. It is quite strange and borderline funny that the world’s largest searching engine wants help in improving the ranking of its websites on Google. But on the other hand, it is also comforting for SEO experts that even a company like Google needs help in dominating its own search engine.
Other responsibilities include keeping pace with SEO, search engine and Internet marketing industry trends and developments and report changes as needed, and maintain and develop the web code to ensure quality, content and readability by search engines among others.
