April Fools’ 2014: HTC and Samsung pull off the same prank
We have seen companies launch similar products but it is probably the first time we are seeing two companies pull off the same prank. HTC and Samsung have today both thought of “announcing” smartgloves that would make their smartphone experience even better. The HTC Gluuv is a glove that connects to the One M8, while Samsung’s Fingers features solar panels, video calling and much more.
HTC says its Gluuv is a beta product, and looks somewhat like a gadget you can associate with a science fiction movie. The device flaunts a metallic design language which is based on HTC’s latest One (M8) smartphone. HTC has shown how its Gluuv can be integrated with the new HTC One (M8), for a seamless communication. The Gluuv featurea a 1080p display, can also read gestures to interact with features on social networks and comes with a ridiculously high camera at 87.2-megapixel. If that is not enough, HTC has also announced the BoomBass, which is a boombox based enhancement for the glove.
Samsung Fingers, on the other hand, “has” solar charging capabilities and it can sense hot and cold objects. It also supports 5G network, video-calling and gesture based instructions, carries a voice amplifier, and lastly has a laser for good measure. And if you think that is all, the oddest of the features is that pulling its finger makes a farting noise!
