Rumors around this year’s iPhone 7 are slowly picking up pace. The latest leaks show alleged design renders of the upcoming iPhone as well as more details about its battery and other features. According to one leak, Apple could double the internal storage of the iPhone 7 to a whopping 256GB! 

The photos leaked by a Chinese supplier show an iPhone that takes design cues from the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 5s, GizmoChina reports. On the front is a 2.5D curved glass panel that flows into the metal frame on the sides. At the bottom are the 3.5mm audio jack (contradictory to what has been reported recently), a Lightning port and a single set of speakers. Another alleged photo also shows the iPhone 7 being charged wirelessly.

The supplier has also shared a photo that shows the innards of the iPhone 7. Towards the top you can see the A10 processor, which is in line with recent reports. Also seen in a large battery that brings us to a report by MyDrivers, which claims that the iPhone 7 Plus (larger variant) will boast a bigger 3,100mAh battery and 256GB internal storage.

To put these into perspective, the current iPhones come in three storage variants – 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. As for the battery, the iPhone 6s features a 2,750mAh unit, while the iPhone 6s Plus features a 2,915mAh unit. Putting in a bigger battery could very well sort one of the biggest issues with the current-generation iPhones – the battery life. While the jury is still out on why Apple refuses to phase out the 16GB storage base variant, a 256GB variant will nonetheless be welcome considering the inclusion of new features like Live Photos and 4K video recording among others on the current-gen iPhones.

Despite how real the iPhone 7 design looks in the above photos, they are after all leaked by a Chinese supplier and should be taken with the proverbial pinch of salt. Needless to say, use the same amount of caution with the leaks about the battery and storage capacity.
