Windows 10 Build 9901 leak shows new Store app with improved taskbar and Cortana
Build 9901 of Windows 10 has leaked onto the web, giving us the best look yet at some of the major changes the company has made to the taskbar, Settings app, and header bars in the modern apps, among others. First spotted by PCPortal, the build features a ton of improvements over the early Windows 10 Technical Preview the company had released in September. Among some of the most noticeable changes, Cortana now comes integrated as part of the Search experience, though it isn’t functional yet. The charms bar is still there in the build, but the Settings charm, which would appear when you hover your mouse to the right side of the screen is gone. In addition, there is also a full-screen button on Modern apps. Interestingly, the hamburger button in the Modern apps has become a bit smaller now which looks better with the background UI.
There is also a Store Beta application included in the latest build. Interestingly, now the build contains two Store apps: a Beta version, and the regular old version of Store. The Beta version, however, isn’t graphically stitched well yet. And lastly, there is also a Settings app in the build. While there aren’t any noticeable new additions, the application has received a major graphical overhaul. The company has an event scheduled for January 21st where it is expected to showcase many more consumer-oriented features, as well as mobile SKU of the Windows 10 operating system.
