SwiftKey, one of the most popular keyboard apps for Android, is adding support for 11 regional languages and layouts in its latest update for Android users. Additionally, the company is also releasing a Diwali theme keyboard to commemorate the forthcoming festival.

The new languages include Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Nepali and Sinhala. The language update will be out for the beta version only, and the official rollout will happen alongside the launch of new Android version update. The Diwali keyboard can be purchased through the Store from tomorrow.

In June, SwiftKey went free for all Android users since its birth in 2010. The app which earlier cost around Rs 250 on the Google Play Store, is now available for free downloaded with in-app purchases. The app has seen more than 1,000,000 installs since its inception.

Swiftkey was also one of the first companies to release a keyboard app for iOS 8. The app was recently updated, which brought in a host of improvements and big fixes. There is however no word on when the iOS keyboard will get support for the above mentioned regional languages.
